Artichoke Jerusalem - Planting Instructions
- Growing Conditions:
- They thrive in full sun with well-drained, loose soil;
- they are hardy perennials often treated as annual crops.
- Planting:
- about 4–6 inches deep
- spaced 12–18 inches apart
- Tubers are planted in early spring,
- Plants can grow 6 to 10 feet (1.8 to 3 meters) tall, with yellow, sunflower-like blooms
- Harvesting: Tubers are usually ready to harvest in late autumn
- After the foliage dies back, and can be left in the ground until needed (they store better in soil than out).
- They are vigorous growers
