This course is designed for students with an interest in technology who wish to enhance their technical skill sets by hands on experience with electronics. Also beneficial for students considering a career in technology and wondering which area will offer them the best career options.
Module #1 Computer & Network Training Course Classroom (45 Minutes)
- Covers the history of the Computer from the Abacus to modern cloud computing
- The different careers related to computing and which are the key employers in the tech sector in Ireland.
Module #2 Computer & Network Training - Building a PC (45 Minutes)
- This course looks at the workhorse of the computing industry, the humble PC and the component parts which make it up. The course allows students to dismantle and reassemble a PC and learn how to upgrade RAM, add a new graphics card and whats involved in changing a hard drive or main processor.
Module #3 Computer & Network Training - Computer Networks (45 Minutes)
- Hands on experience of building a computer network to be used in an office - utilizing desktop switch and CAT6 cables.
- How to use Access points, Bridges and 4G modems to build wireless networks.
Lunch (45 Minutes)
- Finish with Lunch in the SOLAS Food Court with pizza for students and a choice from menu for school teachers included as part of the course package

- Cost: Course costs from €20 per student depending on Group size
Format of the Day
- See below a typical timeline for the running of courses depending on whether students are attending 1 or 2 courses in a single day. Note we are flexible on start and finish times and can start courses from 8.30am onwards to suit bus pickup times.
- Single Course: Arrive 10:50am, Course 11-1.15pm, Lunch, Depart 1.55pm
- 2 Courses: Arrive 9am, Course #1 9-11.15am, Lunch, Course #2 12.00 - 2.15pm, Depart
