Gooseberry Canes - Characteristics
- Hardy plants requiring very little maintenance
- Fruits: Early harvest of green berries followed by red fruits later in the Summer
- Harvest time: Quick to reach harvest from May onwards

Gooseberry Canes - Planting Instructions
Planting Time
- Plant your gooseberry canes as soon as they arrive
- Potted plants can be planted all year round
- Avoid frosty conditions, where the ground is frozen
Positioning Gooseberry Canes
- Spacing: 100cm apart in rows 100cm apart
- Gooseberries can be grown in full sun or part shade
- Full sun gives sweeter tasting fruits
- Soil type: Well drained to heavy soils
- Can be grown in containers
- Choose a sheltered spot
- Fill planting hole with manure prior to planting
- When planting - hold plants at ground level & back fill the top soil
- Ensure each plant is straight & soil is compacted in around it's root ball
- Level off the soil around the plants
- To harvest, cut away entire bunches of fruit as they turn green
After Care
- Water regularly until plants establish
- Especially bare roots plants
- Water before & after planting
- If dry weather persists, water every 2 days
- Feed plants in late Winter after pruning
- Weeding is also essential
- Mulch up around the base of plants after weeding
Cutting Back
- Cut back in Winter
- Cut away dead, dying & diseased stems
- Cut away crossing & inward growing stems
- Prune to an outward facing bud
- Prune to encourage an open canopy

Bulk Bags & Large Item Pallet Deliveries
- Bulk bags & large orders are shipped via pallet couriers on a rigid lorry
- Delivery is to kerbside only
- If road access to your site is tight, then please advise us before purchasing
- Please Note: We cannot guarantee next day delivery on pallet deliveries
- Also, we cannot guarantee delivery on a specific day (Please allow 1-3 days for delivery)
- It's always best to order well in advance to avoid disappointment
- Cancellation of pallets when items are already in transit will incur a 40 euro per pallet cancellation fee (To cover return delivery costs)
