Sowing Instructions
- Sowing Time: Mid spring. Important that seeds are kept warm
- Sowing Location: Indoors, under cover & grow in greenhouse
- Sow in 9cm pots or fibre pots, sowing 1 seed per pot soaking compost
- Sow seeds 2cm deep, placing seed vertically in compost
- Place pots in a heated propagator, setting to 21°C
- Keep pots moist at all times
How to Transplant
- Once 10cm tall you can transplant (roughly 6 weeks after sowing)
- Harden of your sweetcorn by acclimatizing to the cold by leaving outside for a few hours a day
- Transplant young seedlings into greenhouse soil
- Space 50cm apart
- Plant in blocks not rows
- Soil: Soil must be warm before sowing, use a garden cloche to warm soil prior to sowing
- Well drained & very fertile soil is preferred
- Improve the soil by digging in some compost or manure
Crop Maintenance
- Keep moist
- Protect crops against slugs
- Support plants using canes, garden twine or tomato supports
How to Harvest
- Harvest sweetcorn once tassels have turned brown
