Maple Tree - Characteristics
- Medium sized garden tree
- Mature Size: 9m high x 5m spread
- Broad-leaf tree, upright spreading crown
- Possibly the best Maple tree for Autumn colour
- Deciduous tree, they lose their leaves in Winter
- Foliage: Palmate leaves, deeply lobed
- Leaves are glossy
- Colours: Starting Dark green in summer
- Turn a mix of yellows, oranges, & red in Autumn
- Growth rate: Fast
- Frost hardy
Maple Tree - Uses
- Specimen & ornamental garden tree
- Can be grown on it's own
- Grow in a grove of 5 or 7 trees for best impact
- Grown for it's year round colour & interest
- Excellent plant would make a focal point in flower beds
- Can be planted out on a lawn as a specimen plant
Maple Tree - Planting Instructions
Planting Time
- Plant the moment they arrive
- Potted trees can be planted any time of year
- Avoid frosty conditions, where the ground is frozen
- These saplings will require several years to mature
Positioning Trees
- Plant in full sun or partial shade
- Likes moist to well drained soils
- Happy in acidic, neutral or alkaline soils
- Prepare a large planting hole
- Add rotted manure to the base of each hole - this will encourage stronger growth
- When planting, hold plants at ground level & back fill the top soil
- Ensure each plant is straight & soil is compacted in around it's root ball
- Level off the soil around the plants
- Support with medium sized tree stake for first 2 years
- Spacing: 5-6m apart
After Care
- Water regularly until plants establish
- Water before & after planting
- If dry weather persists, water every 2 days
- Weeding is also essential - especially bind weed which can quickly smoother a young tree
- Keep grass growth away from the base of trees to ensure a faster growth rate
- Avoid strimming around the base of trees

- Also, we cannot guarantee delivery on a specific day (Please allow 1-3 days for delivery)
- It's always best to order well in advance to avoid disappointment
- Cancellation of pallets when items are already in transit will incur a 40 euro per pallet cancellation fee (To cover return delivery costs)
